Texas Optometrists

Optometrists in Texas are licensed healthcare professionals who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems. They are trained to examine the eyes for visual acuity and the presence of any diseases or disorders, and to prescribe corrective lenses or medication as needed. They may also provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgery. In Texas, optometrists must graduate from an accredited optometry school and pass a national exam to become licensed. They are also required to complete continuing education to maintain their license.
